Hellens Folding Books – Launch Day with activity sessions

Date and Time
Wed, 17th Aug, 2022 at 13:00 - 16:00

Celebrate with us as we present our new trio of folding books, inspired by Japanese design and the rich heritage of Hellens.

After many requests from visitors for recipes of our delicious homemade cakes, the team at Hellens first created ‘The Tearoom Book’, containing 10 recipes for soups, cakes, scones and more, illustrated with sketches by our Arts Society volunteers.
The second book, a guide to Hellens Physic Garden, gives context to and more information on the planting and uses of herbs grown here. Written by Kat Terry, who designed and planted the garden, the folding book is beautifully illustrated with Moku Huanga woodblock prints by herbalist Rowan McOnegal.
And… hot off the press this summer, a new Hellens Guide Book in folding book form, telling the story of the manor house through the ages, with illustrations and artwork by our resident artist Charlie Kimberley.
Many more books are yet to come including the much anticipated guidebook to  Hellens’ History in Stitches’ and a guide to Hellens’ wonderful portrait collection.

Book onto the special activity sessions planned (see below). There will also be a display of plants, potions, postcards etc., as well as our usual shop offerings in the tearoom.

Launch day special offer for the folding books – £7 for all 3 (tied in a bundle with raffia)
