Hellens is open to the public on Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 1 April to 14 October, 10.30am – 5.00pm. Access to the House is by guided tour which can be booked online here. Admission to the grounds, gardens and tearoom is free and you do not need to book in advance. Please bring a picnic to enjoy in the garden. We also welcome friendly dogs on leads.

The Great Barn, Georgian Stables and Haywain have good access and facilities for wheelchair users and we have designated accessible parking areas. There is level access to most of the garden and ramped access to the Tearoom. Access to the house is across uneven surfaces, wheelchair access to parts of the ground floor is possible, for further information please contact us.
Our Tearoom offers a range of delicious homemade soups, cakes, and scones served with jam and clotted cream, ice cream, teas, coffees and soft drinks. We use eggs from our own free-range hens and vegetables from our garden. Our ingredients are sustainably, ethically and locally sourced.
Recently completed, ‘Hellens – A History in Stitches’ is a remarkable, nearly 10-metre-long, crewelwork embroidery that visually chronicles the manor’s 1000-year history. This ambitious project was designed and stitched by thirteen Arts-Society Heritage Volunteers. A truly collaborative work which took over 7 years to finish.
The embroidery is worked in Appletons 2-ply crewel wool on Jacobean linen twill in a broad range of crewelwork stitches, selected for their illustrative qualities. It depicts several significant historical events associated with Hellens, including Queen Isabella’s visit, the ‘slip’ earthquake, the Civil War attack, Mary Tudor knighting Richard Walwyn, the Coronation Ball for Queen Elizabeth II, and traditional cider and perry pressing in the mill house.
Private guided house tours are available throughout the year. A private tour costs £10 per head with a minimum charge of £170. Our tearoom can provide refreshments, prices are below but we do ask that the whole group orders the same.

Ledbury Station is 6 miles from Hellens. If you want to use a taxi then please book in advance because there is not a taxi rank at the station. We recommend you come by bus.
The 232 Daffodil Line bus route takes you direct from Ledbury train station (or town centre) to Much Marcle. Get off at Glebe Orchard (8 mins walk to Hellens) or ask the bus driver if he’d kindly drop you at the end of Hellens’ drive (5 mins walk).
